The Bus and CATC Code of Conduct


Any person who rides on-board a bus operated by CATC and The Bus is deemed to have accepted the normal risks that may be encountered when traveling on board a public vehicle. Drivers are trained to operate in a safe and professional manner at all times. Passengers are reminded that sudden stops may occur without warning . Using the seatbelts will assist passengers if this should occur.

The Bus and CATC are committed to making all information, bus service and facilities as accessible as possible. Here's what we're doing:

For a safe and enjoyable trip as a passenger on The Bus & CATC I agree to:

  • Passengers must use seat belts unless a physician provides a certification regarding a medical condition that prohibits use of a seatbelt.
  • Not bring alcohol or illegal drugs onto the bus.
  • Passengers that are intoxicated may be asked to exit the bus and/or arrested.
  • Wear a shirt and shoes.
  • Have exact change before boarding. Drivers cannot make change.
  • Drivers cannot refund money from the fare box.
  • Refrain from smoking including vapor cigarettes, chewing tobacco or drinking.
  • Refrain from eating and drinking. All food and beverages must be in sealed containers.
  • Carry on items too large to fit between the seats are too big to transport.
  • Not bring anything on board that could be considered a weapon.
  • Not bring on board hazardous materials, combustibles, (items include gasoline, car batteries, tires, skates). Any item that is too large to fit between the seats.
  • Companion animals are welcome in a pet carrier or on a leash under the condition the animal is under the passengers control at all times. Cats must be in a pet carrier no exceptions.
  • Service animals are welcome.
  • Passengers may carry up to four (4) grocery sized bags on The Bus.
  • Passengers must carry their own oxygen, groceries, strollers, carts, pets and children.
  • All mobility device passengers must use the four point bus restraint system.
  • Mobility device passengers must use their seat belt, or a lap belt when on the lift and while traveling.
  • The first row seats are reserved for seniors, the disabled, and passengers traveling with children.
  • Passengers not meeting this condition must yield the seats in the first row of seats when requested to do so by the driver.
  • Children must be removed from strollers.
  • Strollers must be folded and stowed when a bus is moving.
  • It's recommended that a child use the bus restraint system.
  • Aisles must be kept free and clear of all personal belongings.
  • Always safely secure oxygen equipment.
  • Drivers will not search a passengers body or back packs or belongings for the correct fare.
  • Only occupy one seat.
  • Remain seated while the bus is moving.
  • Refrain from fighting, vulgarity, pushing, or lewd behavior. It isn't appropriate.
  • Always use headphones with portable electronic devices.
  • Keep conversations private.
  • Don't distract the driver.
  • Stay behind the painted lines.
  • Soliciting or loitering are not allowed.
  • Keep The Bus clean.

  • Seat belts are required for all CATC passengers unless a medical exemption is on file with CATC.
  • CATC passengers may transport six (6) grocery sized bags. Oversized and overweight items are not allowed.
  • CATC passengers are encouraged to use a small folding cart to transport bags.
  • Drivers will assist with bags to and from the door only. Drivers cannot enter a passengers residence.
  • All mobility devices must be secured using the four point tie-down system on the bus.
  • Drivers will not get passengers out of bed, search a passengers body or back packs or belongings for the correct fare.
  • Keep the CATC bus clean.

Denial of Service

The Bus and CATC reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. Inappropriate behavior, language or conduct toward any passenger or employee of The Bus or CATC will not be tolerated.
